SLAVE OF MY HEART ROXANNE SPRINGER Torrid Romance Historical Sensuality Rating: Torrid Whiskey Creek Press Torrid E-book/ Available October 2007 332 pages ISBN# 978-1-60313-040-0 Price: N/A (ARC) Rating: 3.5 Enchantments Riana Septimus agrees to marry Antonius Cassius, First Senator of Rome, to grant her father his last, dying wish. She does not love the malicious and cruel man, but is resigned to spending her life as his wife. There will be no love in her life. Well, she will just be like the hundreds of other Roman noblewomen. Until the day her gaze falls on Tan, a gladiator and slave. Loving a slave, and even bedding one, is considered treason in Ancient Rome. But Riana knows her heart will only belong to the handsome Tan. She convinces Antonius to buy Tan as her personal bodyguard. But in the privacy of her home, Tan becomes her lover, and the husband of her heart. However, Riana has to marry Antonius, and the man she finds behind the closed doors of their bedchamber is sadistic, cruel, and perverted. Knowing that she is pregnant with Tan’s child, and unwilling to submit to her horribly Machiavellian husband, Riana and Tan escape from Rome. They find refuge with a band of nomads, Anubians who descend from Egypt. They believe life is shining down on them, but Antonius begs to differ. He will set an example in Rome where his runaway wife and this slave of hers are concerned. Sparing no means to track them down, he unleashes his evil revenge on the couple, sentencing both to fates more atrocious than Hell itself could impose. I have enjoyed this book. Ms. Springer writes with clarity, and her depictions of Ancient Rome and the life of the times are startling in clarity and descriptions. Realism is poignant, but unfortunately, many of the instances where the cruelty, perversions, and violence of the era were recounted were a bit too shocking and heavy for this reviewer. One would need strong guts to read this book, and the story is not for the faint hearted. The violence was a bit too crude and in your face in certain occasions. This fact makes the book not one that can be recommended as an entertaining read. Still, if you want a taste of Ancient Rome, it is the book for you. Zee Enchanting Reviews

| Hannah's Law |

Hannah’s Law threw me for several loops with all the drama surrounding the
returned family member. Man, I never saw it coming! Springer made the family
and farm hands relationships so touching and the threat of danger so
riveting, I might have to read it again.

I must say this was a spectacular read. I was spellbound the moment I started reading and couldn’t put it down. Bryce and Hannah are excellent and both show strong characteristics that make this story flow so well. Hannah’s Law just blew me away. I kept turning the pages, anxious to see what would happen next. Just the confrontation with Bryce, Hannah and her Pa emitted layers of expression that this reader could feel. Kirk, and some of the other characters that came into play, really had some twists and turns that I never imagined. Roxanne Springer weaves an intriguing read from start to finish. She lends some surprises along the way and creates well-developed characters with spirit, fire and determination that are hard to let go of in this outstanding story. This is one tale that engages completely. Reviewed by: Linda L. Review Rating: 5 angels Fallen Angel Reviews I was thrilled to read a story with a different scenario of life on a ranch. Women as strong as the character of Hannah are truly few and far between. But the sparks that she and Bryce often cause are worthy enough to start a bonfire. Bravo to Ms. Springer and her marvelous tale of a strong woman who knows what she wants out of life and grabs it with both hands. So hold on tight for a story full of life, love and old west justice. Liadan Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance Review Rating: 4 cups Roxanne Springer spins an interesting and intriguing web with this historical tale, delving into the darker natures that lurk within us all. Not normally one for dark tales, I found the book balanced and interesting but not going grossly overboard. Ms Springer does spin a very interesing tale that flows well and provides a balance of imagery that very few writers of this genre do as well as she. | Elusive Destiny |
|
A wicked grasping madam and an infatuated evil suitor pair up to make a suitably despicable couple when they seek to destroy true love in a tale where good finally triumphs over the powers of darkness... Elusive Destiny is a a riveting story of lust, greed, and the lawless old West. Roxanne Springer evokes powerful emotions as a couple is torn asunder and brought together again by sheer determination and the resilience of the human spirit. In her powerful first novel, Ms. Springer shows a remarkable ability to bring the reader into the moment with colorful description and poignant emotion. The story takes the reader to the depths of depravity and up to the heights of supreme sacrifice and loyalty. I, for one, cannot wait to see what she pens next.
